How do I restrict the viewing of quantitative data in an account?

When selected, the Restrict view of quantitative data setting allows instructors to limit the view of quantitative (numeric) grading data in a course. Students and observers only see qualitative data, which includes letter grades and comments.

Points are converted to a letter grade and points possible are hidden. All other grading information is visible.

When locked, the setting restricts the view of quantitative data in all new courses.

Notes:

  • You can enable and lock the setting for sub-accounts and courses. If the setting is unlocked, instructors can choose to enable it in Course Settings. If the setting is locked, instructors cannot disable the setting in a course.
  • If the account or course does not have a custom grading scheme, the Default Canvas Grading Scheme is used.
  • When the setting is enabled, Admins, Instructors, and TAs can still see quantitative data.
