Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I am a instructor setting up a quiz under New Quizzes. I can't find a simple feature that existed in the original version. Originally under "Set Quiz Options" there was a checkbox entitled "Let students see the correct answers" followed by boxes entitled "Show correct answers at" and "Hide correct answers at". I want to continue to use this feature with New Quizzes but can't find it (or figure out the work-around). Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Unfortunately that does not yet seem to be a part of New Quizzes, but there is an idea conversation open where you can share your interest in having this feature added: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Idea-Conversations/New-Quizzes-Show-and-Hide-Quiz-Results-by-Date...

This is a critical element to many online courses that are self-paced. I will not reveal answers until after the deadline for obvious reasons which is why I found that feature so useful in the Old Quiz set-up. This is really essential and should be prioritized for the New Quiz feature.
Al igual que expresan los colegas, está funcionalidad en Old Quizzes debería de ser agregada en New Quizzes puesto que, la configuración permite que los estudiantes no sepan durante el cuestionario las respuestas, considerar el tema 🙏
This is a MUST HAVE for us! We need that security setting! We set up tests for some highly confidential departments that need this feature and DEPEND on it!!!
Hi there, @ejackson ...
Make sure to leave your feedback on the Feature Idea New Quizzes: Show and Hide Quiz Results by Date so that Instructure can use your feedback as they consider implementing something like this in Canvas. If you can provide "real world" examples, that would help them, too. Finally, you can "rate" the Feature Idea by leaving a star rating. Check out these additional resources, too:
Hope this helps a bit. Be well...
I've been using Canvas for nearly 10 years. The way they handle "suggestions" appears to be slower than glacial. It's been FOUR YEARS that people have been asking for "show correct answers" using a calendar date (LIKE IN OLD QUIZZES) and after four years it's still not a priority? The bureaucracy at Instructure is MIND BOGGLING. Consider all of our institutions actually PAY to use Canvas it would seem that correcting such a glaring ommission would be corrected within months, not years. And "voting" for the "theme" it's impossible right now, there's nowhere to vote. Who has time to learn this bureaucratic (soviet style) "suggestion" triage stuff anyway? I'm busy manually revealing the answers to the quizzes after students finish the quiz! So incredibly frustrated and disappointed in Instructure. The private equity firm that owns Canvas (and Instructure) is worth 120 billion. One might think with that kind of money they'd be more responsive to users. THIS TOPIC SHOULDN'T BE CLOSED. It's an open IT ticket if anything. [Rant Over.]
@daniellefilm ...
I can understand the frustration when we want to see things developed that we think should be a part of the "core" Canvas product. I've been in the same boat at times...waiting for my own ideas I've submitted to be implemented. This is just one example that was submitted back in 2011 in an old version of the Community, and when Instructure moved to a new Community platform, I submitted it on behalf of the person who originally submitted it because I thought it was an idea worthy of implementing. [Assignments] Move or Delete Incorrectly Submitted... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) (You can see my comment right below it from 2015 on how it worked in the Pearson eCollege LearningStudio LMS.) So yes, I completely understand when waiting can be hard.
At the same time, I also understand that Instructure has a budget to work with...and not everything we want and hope for can be implemented. I'm not sure if you've had a chance to review the Canvas Product Roadmap - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com), but I'd encourage you to check it out to see what they have coming soon and further down the road.
This Guide might also be of some help:

You are correct that voting isn't open at this time. Earlier this year, Instructure implemented a change in how the voting process works here in the Community (this isn't the only way Instructure gets feedback about what to develop, by the way). You can read more about all of this in the following Guides:

Technically speaking, the topic isn't closed at all. There were originally two responses marked as a "Solution" (one of which was a response from @sandman). I removed the "Solution" from sandman's response because I didn't feel it was a solution that addressed @morrow's original question. However, @Steven_S did provide a response, and it has been marked with a "Solution" ... even though it might not be a complete answer, it's still letting people know that there's an Idea that's been submitted. Marking a response as a "Solution" does not close the conversation whatsoever. In fact, we can continue to have conversations about this topic, and if other people come up with ways to answer morrow's question, those can also be marked with a "Solution".
I'd encourage you to follow both the Idea that Steven_S linked to as well as the theme...so that when the voting window becomes available, you'll be able to participate in those conversations.
I don't know if any of the above will be of help to you or not, but I wanted to provide a bit more information for you just in case...for what it's worth.
Take care...be well.
@daniellefilm ...
I just realized I should have also given you a link to the New Quizzes roadmap page here in the Community...so wanted to share that with you, too.

Thank you, but again, an exercise in frustration if NOTHING is going to happen for years. Why would anyone want to use their valuable time "socializing" on a Canvas forum waiting for Godot? Instructure and Thoma Bravo (that 120 Billion fund) has us by the ****s and they know it. Good luck to everyone else waiting on the ability to reveal correct answers to your students after a quiz closes. Maybe you'll be retiring the year they finally fix that issue.
My institution just switched from Moodle to Canvas. I can't believe this feature doesn't exist. I either show all students the quiz answers right away or manually go in later and show the answers. What a crazy frustration for such an obvious component of online quizzes.
