If one of those pictures is from an actual quiz turned in for grading and the other picture is what you see when editing the quiz, then the only thing I can think of is that the quiz was started and then the point total on the question was changed after the quiz was started.

Once a quiz is started, then whatever the current state of the quiz is at that time is what it stays as - regardless of any changes made by the instructor.

Is that a possibility for this situation?

I was able to take a look at the screenshots you provided. I wasn't clear on which scores was mismatched exactly. 

I do see that in one of the screenshots Question 3 is out of 2 points and in the other screenshot it appears to be out of 1 point. Did you edit the quiz question after the student had submitted it? 

It might be best to have Canvas support take a look at it to see what happened there. Be sure to provide them with your specific examples if you decide to have them take a look.
