I have two classes that both have graded discussions. In one, the speed grader works properly and shows me their posts and responses to peers. In the other, I cannot see their posts in Speed Grader. My only option is to view the whole discussion and search by name for each student. Can you please tell me how to fix it so Speed Grader works correctly?

Hi @LisaColón , we see this sometimes happening in some courses as well. Often this is due to a setting for large courses. Click on Settings in the course menu > find the section 'Large Courses' and uncheck 'Launch SpeedGrader Filtered by Student Group' > scroll down and save this.

I tried this recommendation, about the modifying the settings connected to "Large Courses", but it didn't work. I cannot see any Discussion posts within Speed Grader. Really frustrating! This feature worked just fine Spring 2024.
It also does not work for me! Super frustrating. What is the next step on solving this?
I also just tried, and it didn't work as well. I am so so frustrated because grading discussions has become MUCH harder with all of the threads shown. I don't understand at all why it has changed with our new update in 2025. UGH!
Having the same issue. I last graded discussions on Jan. 6th and this did not happen. I won't be able to grade like this. I have huge class!
I reached out to our college's Canvas admin. It has to do with coding at the root level regarding something called check points. Check points allows you to make the initial post due one day and the replies due later. For some reason, that creates this issue in speed grader.
I work in a multi college district and there was lots of complaining. So they turned off the check points and it is back to normal.
I wish you all luck.
This is from our Canvas Guru and it worked. It's actually cool to be able to set separate due dates for the replies:
This is true. It is a nice feature for those who want it.
But for those of us who do don't, it multiplies the time to grade assignments by a factor of 3-10.
This should be an option where the instructor can choose which format to use. It is 10X easier for me to see all the students posts on one page.
Glad it works for you, though.
Agreed. Just thought I'd share because it had me stumped. It takes a good bit longer in my classes of 100 to get it done . . . But students get docked automatically for being late. They don't ask us, they just upgrade . . .
