I have checked the user guides, and it says that .png image files are compatible with Canvas. However, all the .png files that our instructors have uploaded do not display the image. We have converted them to .jpg and uploaded them again, and they display correctly.
Can you please advise if there is something we are doing wrong which prevents .png files from displaying the image?

Hi @CatherineLittle ...
I have several *.png files already uploaded to my own sandbox course. I created a new page in my course, and then I used the RCE (Rich Content Editor) to embed the image on the page. It displayed nicely on the page...as expected. If you are still having difficulties, I would suggest that you reach out to Canvas tech support to see if they can dig into things more for you.
How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?
Keep us posted on what they tell you...thanks!

Hi Chris
Thanks for responding. Having done some further testing, it appears that they display correctly in Chrome, but not if Edge is used as the browser. I have passed this on to our Sys Admin so they can check our browser settings.
@CatherineLittle ...
That's strange. I was using the latest version of the Edge browser on my Windows 11 laptop when testing this in my own sandbox course.
I would echo what @Chris_Hofer is saying. I also have multiple PNG files in my courses. I have never seen widespread issues with them not displaying on my end or for students. This is more likely something on your end (your device or district settings). I have had students use it on both Edge and Chrome without issue.
