I have students who want to go back and look at a submitted assignment that has been graded. They are telling me it is coming back with the late color code and when I look at Speed Grader, their grade is fine but there are points off in the penalty column. I do think the penalty is assessed but what should I be doing to keep the late penalty calculation after their assignment is graded and they just want to view it? Thanks.

Hi @GaryMarrer,
Maybe there is some confusion here. Canvas doesn't mark anything late just because a student viewed it. The only way something would be marked late would be if the student did another submission attempt, which should not be required just to view the assignment or their previous submission.
I guess some specific external integrated assignment platform *could* work differently, but that would be extremely rare.

Hi @GaryMarrer,
I guess I'm a bit confused by the question... If the student submitted their work late, it's always going to show as being late and have any applicable late policy you may have enabled showing to the student. The status is basically just a standing record of things, but that should not impact the student's ability to view the submitted work at all. Can you elaborate on what you'd like students to see a bit more maybe (or what they may be having a hard time seeing for some reason)?

The student's original submission was on time. They might view the assignment at a later date to study for a quiz.
