Hello, is there any way to see a quiz grade as a letter (A, B, C, etc...)? Right now, I can see them as points and percentage, but our school has 3 grading schemes so seeing them as letters can be helpful too. Right now if I click on the 3 dots of a quiz (in the gradebook page) and then, I chose "enter grades as", I can see the options "points" and "percentage" (so the grades show as either or) but not "letters" - maybe that can be an option down the road? It is just a suggestion.

Hi @mariadecoster ,
Are you using New Quizzes or Classic? In New Quizzes there is a drop-down option for "Display Grade as" similar to the one in Assignments. You can select "Letter Grade" instead of "Points." This is done when creating (or editing?) the Quiz, not from the Gradebook. After you select "Letter Grade," you will access an additional option to choose the appropriate Grading Scheme.
I don't remember if this option is available in Classic Quizzes, and I no longer have access to that format at my institution.
Hi @mariadecoster,
I believe what @TrishaMeyer1 indicated is correct. If you're using Classic Quizzes, I don't believe there is an option to use a grade scheme. With the New Quizzes engine though, you can use a letter grade display. Instructure isn't really developing Classic Quizzes anymore, so I doubt this will change in the future. You could ask the Canvas team at your school/institution if they have plans to transition over to New Quizzes in the future though.

@mariadecoster ...
Have you set up the Grading Scheme via your course "Settings" page? This is where you can define what an A is, what a B is, etc. For example:
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
etc...
Please let Community members know if these links will be useful to you so that the grade letters can display in your Grades page. Thanks!
Yes, we have 3 different grading schemes, so that is already set up. But in the gradebook, I cannot see a grade as a letter, that is the component I am looking for
@mariadecoster ...
In my own sandbox course, after I make sure that the grading scheme is enabled via the course "Settings" page, I then go to my "Grades" page. The "Total" column (no matter if I choose to display as points or percentages) displays that score along with the associated letter grade.
Does this help to answer your question?
Hi Chris, I have that too, but for the total grade of assignments, not for one single quiz, I don't think that Canvas offers that possibility now, but it could be a good upgrade for the future, in my opinion, when we work with 3 different grading schemes and an A is not always a 90-100 or a B an 80-89.5, etc.
@mariadecoster ...
Yeah...what I've shared with you applies a letter grade to the "Total" column and not to individual assignments in the course. If you take a look at this Guide:
How do I use grading schemes in a course? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
...under the heading "Course Grading Schemes", there is the following sentence:
"When enabling a grading scheme for a course, the grading scheme is applied to the students' final grades in addition to the overall percentage."
If you wanted to see letter grades next to individual assignments in the Gradebook, you could submit that as an Idea here in the Community. (Or, someone may have already submitted something similar...in which case creating a new Idea isn't necessary.) Here are some other documents to look through (check out the section on "Ideas and Themes"):

Hope this helps, too.

Hi Trisha, I do not have that option (I just checked) so I guess I am using the Classic system. In fact, I would like to be able to grade with points but see a quiz grade as a letter in the gradebook, if need be

Thanks Chris, I will ask our IT department concerning the New Quizzes. Best
