I very much enjoy using Canva for design work. Currently, we are using Canva to design course content and embedding that into the Canvas pages. Does anyone have a better option?
We have investigated using the Canva for Campus option and would love to do so, but as a private, higher education user, the cost is prohibitive.
Melanie - What exactly are you looking for? Something for just visual design, or something for interactions, or something else? Have you looked at @ Cidilabs Design Plus for design? (not free) https://cidilabs.com/landing/design-tools/
Is Canva creating an accessible design? I would love to see a sample of what you have created.
We use cidilabs. https://cidilabs.com/
Drieam also has a product. https://drieam.com/en/solutions/course-templates/
Canva is doing a great job with their product. I also use Visme to make more interactive graphics and reports. The back end is obnoxious and the price tag is a little hefty at $300/year, but it creates really interesting things. Adobe Express is much more affordable (it's free) and I've been impressed with that platform. They're making leaps and bounds from when it was called Spark.
I am curious about what you are using Canva for in Canvas. Are you using it for images? I use it for course banners and creating images, but not for " design course content and embedding that into the Canvas pages" as was mentioned in the original post. Or, do you all mean images when you say course content?

Another type of software to produce interactives is H5P. It creates drag and drop, hot spots, etc type interactions for engagement interspersed throughout the content. I do not enable the grading feature in it, but use it more as a practice element.
