Teacher's Submission Dates: Appear for Students/Admin but not Teacher

Looking for some community help!

I am a teacher who helps out when teachers have technical issues.

I have a teacher who is having issues on the "Edit Assignment" page. 

Dates are added, but do not appear on the teacher's viewable page. (I can mimic this result using the 'Act as User' feature.)  

The odd thing is that the submission date information is visible to students and administrator accounts.  This same issue carries over to the teacher's calendar.  Upcoming assignments are not visible to the teacher as the dates aren't saving to the account, but they are visible to the students/admin on calendar page for the course.

I have attached 2 images of the submission date information below. One is my administrative account's view and the other is the teacher. The only difference is I clicked "Stop acting as user" and this information became available.

Looking at the screenshot, I notice the admin one shows a specific section name instead of the default "Everyone".  That leads me to wonder if the teacher is not enrolled for that specific course section and does not have permission to view all sections in the course.  I believe that combination of things would cause the exact thing you're seeing right now.  Can you confirm if the teacher is enrolled in all of the sections of the course or not (especially that particular one from the screenshot)?

Thanks for the quick response. I can confirm the teacher is enrolled as the teacher for both sections and we had the two sections of the course connected.

The teacher did have some issues earlier this year with the "Everyone" aspect of assignments but the problem appeared to remedy itself, though it may just have faded from the forefront of the teacher's experience.

Hi @KyleP1,

Can you go to the teacher's user page and check the enrollments.  Make sure that none of the enrollments are listed as inactive or concluded for that course.  From everything you're saying so far, I really think there's a hitch going on with the teacher's enrollment status in one or more sections of the course (as that would also explain oddities with the "everyone" setting).

Thanks for all the troubleshooting help!

I can confirm that the teacher is enrolled as a teacher in both sections and that the course is "Active" with this academic year's dates.

I took a screencap of the memberships inside the course and the enrollments page.

Should the names be the same between these two pages or is that something I should be concerned with?

Very interesting!  Everything on your screenshots looks correct to me, so it doesn't seem to be the issue that first occurred to me (that we've run in to in the past).  This might be one that will have to end up going to Canvas support to investigate more.  I have a feeling it's probably some simple setting that neither one of us are thinking about right now...  Are you familiar with browser developer tools at all?  I'd be curious to see if there are any failures noted if you act as the user and load that assignment page.  I believe there is behind the scenes API call which retrieves assignment dates, ad if that's failing it would really pinpoint something for Instructure to check.  We had one faculty last week who was running into an issue with the quizzes page where only the first 30 quizzes had the dates filled in and the rest didn't.  I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my computer, but it was definitely something weird going on with the API call on the teacher's machine.

In a weird twist of events - this data hiccup seems to have corrected itself.  Canvas Support suggested clearing user cache, the browser cache, and a "log out/log in".

The problem resolved itself mid conversation with support.
