Hello-
Doesn't appear that my first post went through. I have one student (out of 10) who is being asked to enter a join code when she tries to get into the class. I'm not sure if she followed the normal route to get into the class (e.g. accept the email invite or if she went to the course page), but students do not need join codes. Others have not reported a similar problem.
I have tried removing her from the course/account and then adding her again. This worked the only other time I encountered this issue. She still is being asked for a sign up code. Why is this happening and how can I correct this?
Thank you!
Grazia Cunningham
Hello @GraziaCunningha ! My first question to you is, is the student logging in through his/her school account or through a personal account (such as Google or O365)? Here is a student guide for trying to log into Canvas: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-sign-up-for-a-Canvas-account-with-a-join-c...
If that's not the problem, perhaps this question from earlier this year will help you. https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Free-For-Teacher-Canvas-Users/Don-t-want-a-join-code/m-p/551352
Best of luck!
Thanks for the response. They are trying to log in via a personal email. This is not a 'public school' affiliated class. It's through a non-profit. Still, I enrolled them by manually adding them to the course (with emails). They should be getting an email invite, setting up a Canvas account, and then accepting the invite. Instead, this student is being asked for a join code when there isn't one. It's very frustrating!
I'd check to make sure the student's email is correct. If it is, reach out to Canvas Support.
