While researching how to prevent downloading of proprietary videos and content, I came across a 2015 post discussing a workaround for locking files. The post mentions the need to "Go to Files and choose the option to lock the file unless you link to it." I cannot find such an option. Has this option been removed?
Anyone have a work around for preventing downloading?
I am a very new Canvas admin.

Hi @JenniferKelly1 ,
I don't know about preventing downloading, but I think the answer to your question is to make sure the icon next to the file name is a slashed eyeball and not a green circle with a white checkmark. If you hover over the slashed eyeball, it says "Only available to students with link." But I don't know how much faith I would put in instructions from 2015. So much on Canvas has changed since then!
Good advice! I'm just desperate to find a solution.
