Is anyone else having issues with the essay questions/ text boxes in Classic Quizzes?
Another teacher in department and I started experiencing issues on Thursday last week where Canvas is not formatting the text boxes correctly and it squishes it together, essentially making it where students cannot type their responses.
We have tried running Canvas on Google Chrome using Chromebooks and Desktop computers in our lab. If you log into Canvas on a different browser, like Firefox, the Canvas website works just fine. We are assuming that this is either an issue with Google Chrome updates and/ or Canvas compatibility as it seems to be an issue exclusively with the browser.
Students have tried restarting Chromebooks, making their screens as large as possible, and zooming in/out. Nothing seems to be working to remedy the issue so far. Our district relies solely on Google Chrome software and Chromebooks, so I need a solution other than printing out assignments for my students to submit work online. I have attached a photo for reference, any help would be appreciated!
I couldn't replicate it on Chrome.
Could you check if it also happens on another Canvas instance, like the Free for Teachers instance?
Hello,
It might be similar to this issue.
Could you take a look at the following topic ?
-quiz questions overlapping

My apologies if my answer is not right.
Thank you for letting us know.
Response from Canvas support:
Thank you for reaching out to Canvas Support. I understand you've been made aware of an issue where a Chromebook user is unable to answer essay questions in a Classic Quiz due to the text fields overlapping.
This behavior was previously observed when the Respondus LockDown Browser extension was enabled on Chrome for Chromebook users.
Respondus has since released an updated version of the extension that addresses this issue. To resolve the matter, we recommend that affected students update to the latest version of the LockDown Browser extension on their Chromebooks.
If the issue persists after updating, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Canvas Support so we can investigate further.
We have also advised faculty to enable the "Show one question at a time" setting in Classic Quizzes that contain essay questions.
