How to simplify group self enrollment in courses with multiple group sets?

I have a course with multiple group sets, each containing more than 30 groups. Students can self-enroll in these groups through self-enrollment.

The problem is that students have to scroll extensively to locate the groups, as all the groups appear on a single page for them, unlike instructors who see groups in tabs for each set.

Because of this, students get confused and report that they are unable to find the right groups. How can I make it easier for students to enroll in their groups and limit their view to only the groups available for enrollment, without deleting any older assignments?

If you only have them registering for one or two groups at a time, maybe you could use an asterisk at the beginning of the name of each group that is open for sign-up to get them to the top of the list. Also, you can turn off the sign-up option on group sets where that is no longer needed. I took a look in the code and see that the Join buttons do not point to unique urls, so no chance in duplicating the sign-up in an organized way elsewhere.

Having just tested this scenario, I would agree it is not preferred. You may want to put in a feature idea to get this improved.
