Hello everybody. I'm wondering how can my students save their work in the text entry feature when they need to come back to it another day? It's not auto saving for them and it's really an inconvenience to have them copy and save their work on a word document. If anyone has advice, please share and thank you.

The RCE (Rich Content Editor) should auto-save text automatically. Please check out the section called "View Auto-Saved Content" in either of these Guides:
I hope this helps. Let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!

I had a large project due the other day that didn't save and I came back the next day to see it gone. No access to saves, auto-saves, or anything similar. The original link to the message that you provided doesn't work so I am not able to get any help there. Could you provide any advice?
@GriffinFrohock ...
Many apologies for broken links. Canvas Community Managers moved some of the links around for Canvas Guides, and you stumbled upon a couple that were in this grouping. The new link (combined for both roles) is located at:
How do I add and modify text in the Rich Content E... - Instructure Community - 618221
About 3/4 the way down the page, you'll find a section on "View Auto-Saved Content".
I'm sorry to read that you experienced a similar issue with your large project. Unfortunately, I don't think there will be any ways to recover the text that you had. If possible, you might want to work on your project "offline", and then see if your instructor would allow you to submit the project as a file such as a Microsoft Word document or a PDF file ... if that is what is required for your assignment. I'd definitely recommend reaching out to your instructor if you haven't done so already. You can do this via Canvas ... by clicking on the "Help" icon on the left-hand global navigation menu. Then, select "Ask Your Instructor a Question".
Sorry that I don't have better news for you, but I hope that you'll be able to get in contact with your instructor soon about this! Good luck!
Thank you so much, Chris. I will try this out with my students on Monday.
The links do not work anymore.
Hi @MrsLauraMetz ...
The folks who manage the Community moved some of the Guides around and combined some things as well since the information was almost identical. You can find that consolidated Guide at:
How do I add and modify text in the Rich Content E... - Instructure Community - 618221
Hope this helps!
