I have quizzes throughout the year. Some types of quizzes happen more often (Type A) and other quizzes happen less often but are more important (Type B). I want them in the same assignment category because I don't know how many of each I am going to have yet and so I want to have them all weighted based on point value within that category.
But I want to make a rule that says drop lowest two Type B quizzes. I don't want to individually list all of the Type A quizzes as exceptions. Is there a way to do this? If so, how?

The best option currently available is to have separate assignment groups for your Type A and Type B quizzes. Based on your question, that might requiring you to change the relative weights of those two groups. Of course that's one of the benefits of using weighted grades!
Your suggestion works well as an idea to improve Canvas, so I suggest using the idea process.
Creating an idea does not provide an immediate solution to the problem you described, though it is a solution. I’m going to mark it as such and hope that our colleagues who have a similar challenge will find the best way to contribute. If you decide to create an idea, please link it here so mode community members can support it.
It's also possible that others in the Community have better options that can be done right now. I hope they add their suggestions to this page.
