We are creating a Canvas site/course that is dedicated to teaching and assessing physical skills.
We have set up assignments with marking rubrics for the main areas of each skill that should be assessed. The assignment is set to 'no submission' as this is an in person assessment in a lab class where the assessor observes the student completing skills.
Not every student will complete every skill/assignment.
Assignments will be 'open' for the entire year, with small groups of students being assessed every couple of weeks (we don't want to create a new assignment for each group).
In our testing phase while this course isn't published, we are now concerned about how annoying it will be for a teacher to find and mark each student from a large list of students. Filtering doesn't work well because there is no submission - so it filters out people because they have no submission... I tried creating a group set and sub groups (which I can see when I use a PC), but they don't seem to show up in the Canvas Teacher App.
I'm also trying to avoid having someone doing a lot of backend work to sort students into groups or sections either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what I might be missing!
