Calendar Information Showing on To Do Widget

I am not sure if this is a bug or just a design decision.

Currently I'm a student using the To Do widget on an Android phone and it displays calendar events on it. However when opening the Canvas app and selecting the To Do tab, it only shows actual to do items. For example assignments with due dates. 

It seems to me the widget should also only show actual to do items and not calendar events. Perhaps calendar events should be its own widget? I have attached some screenshots as examples of what I'm seeing.

Thank you @Zenithis for including those screenshots. I am an iPhone user and added that widget to the home screen on my phone, and the splash page only mentions grades and announcements so I don't see calendar items. Yet another area where Android and iOS differ, it appears. I looked at the Canvas Guides page on Android widgets, but it does not mention what's included. 

The difference between the widget and the app is by design, I think. There is not a Canvas Guides page focused on the to do list within the app, but the page on the to do list says that the list contains "various action items"; I guess that calendar events are not considered action items, but they are worthy of inclusion in the items displayed by the Android widget.

Thanks again for bringing this up. The best way to improve this is via the Ideas process. I like the extra information that appears on the widget, so perhaps the idea is to add calendar events to the iOS widget. Or add those to the to do list, which will bring parity to the screenshots you shared.

Creating an idea does not provide an immediate solution to the problem you described, though it is a solution. I’m going to mark it as such and hope that our colleagues who encounter this same situation can understand the why and also the how of making a change.
