Instructure vs 3rd party Smart Search

We are looking to enable in a specific subaccount in our instance where we normally pilot things. While drawing up some communications to users to get interest piloters, we found a 3rd party tool with the same product name. 

1. Is this 3rd party tool completely un-affiliated with the Instructure tool?
2. Are there any publicly available pages (documentation, guides, etc) on the Instructure tool? I see there is an FAQ but that is community-locked so our end users won't be able to access.

Hello! 

Yes, our team is aware of the smartsearch LTI tool (vs. Instructure's Smart Search).  The LTI is built by an outside vendor who is a partner of Instructure's, but it was not created by Instructure.  Our Smart Search tool will be native to Canvas as a feature option for all Canvas accounts, no LTI required. 

You can share this public link to the Smart Search FAQ to your users.  Additionally, the tool itself has a "how to use" button/tray that pops out explaining the current version of Smart Search and what is being queried.
