Community management is about more than deciding what post goes where, moderating ideas, answering questions, hosting events, or other support-type activities. Community management is about creating a culture and environment where people can grow, connect, and learn. And most importantly, community management is about the people who comprise the community!
This year we could've shown you the amazing stats (and trust me, they’re impressive) on the number of community members, the total number of questions answered, ideas completed, or events hosted, and all of the interactions that happened in our community, Instead, we wanted to focus on what really sets the community apart from others: the people! Including you!
“Go Rogue with Us!” focuses on the interesting web that is woven when you follow the path of sources. Our list of rogue agents was initially quite long, but we narrowed it down so as to explore the connections between eight Canvas Community members.
As promised, we are attaching our presentation here for you to peruse (the recording will be available in a few weeks). Enjoy, and we look forward to any of your reflections!
Oh, and we can't forget a special thanks to those of you who let us feature you in this story of connections! Thank you @stacy_lambert , @peytoncraighill , laurakgibbs, @kblack , @James , @dhulsey , @stephanie_pope , & @drimmer

Thanks for sharing this here, @Renee_Carney ! Plus I am impressed at this embedding of slides: when I could not do my usual embedding in comments, I didn't think it might be otherwise for the person starting a discussion or doing a blog post so now I am going to have to see what new Jive tricks I can learn for the new year!
And THANK YOU for helping me feel like I was part of InstCon. I got so much out of the tweets and blog posts that people have shared, and I spent this week reading both keynote books: Kaufman's Wired to Create and Iyengar's Art of Choosing. I am really grateful that InstCon pushed both books up to the top of my reading list; my classes this Fall are going to benefit so much from both of those keynote speakers and their work. 🙂
Thank you @Renee_Carney . We felt like we were part of InstructureCon from all the way on the other side of the world. Was super exciting - and the Canvas Teacher App release - callaghancollegewallsendcampus staff are excited! We are having a visit from the NSW Department of Education IT Directorate on Tuesday (the State CIO and his entourage) to see what we do with Canvas amongst other things. The community will get a big mention! It is after all, a massive support network and selling point for Canvas.
Big week for us!
On Wednesday I was tasked with running another emergency session on Canvas - this time with only 1hr to prepare! But thanks to the support from last year, I had a good idea of where to start.
Now, Physics, Biology, History, EPQ, Economics, and Business Studies have staff using the 'Free for Teachers' accounts. Canvas FTW!
The recording has been posted!
I am so glad these awesome folks are getting recognized. They help people like me navigate Canvas' sometimes unpredictable waters and have so many amazing ideas that they share freely.
Now, if Canvas would only make it possible to copy quiz questions ... and fix bugs instead of insisting they are features!
Best explain the 'Racy Stacy' nickname @Renee_Carney now that the video is online... I used to run the LiteRACY / NumeRACY committee at #callaghancollegewallsendcampus - hence RACY!
Help, please. I keep trying to get the "Rogue Agent" badge but it says I haven't started it yet. Plus, I was already following one of the accounts listed but it won't mark it as complete. And I can't get it to mark anything else as complete. What is wrong? Thank you. (There's also no way to ask a question like this directly in the badge thing whatever-its-called (Rewards?) so sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place.
@karen_bowden , for this or any other missing badge, please submit a Badge Fail form; you'll find the link at the bottom of https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-1313-what-is-the-canvas-community-reward-system?sr=search&s...
Thank you, Stephanie. I had no idea that page existed.
