How do I create a discussion in an interest group in the Instructure Community?
Creating a topic or discussion is a great way to introduce new thoughts to the Instructure Community and generate conversations.
Note: This feature may not be enabled in certain areas of the Instructure Community.
Open Group
To open an interest group, hover over the Interest Groups menu [1]. Then select the name of the group [2].
To view all groups, click the View All Groups link [3].
Join Group
To create a discussion in a group, you must be a member of that group. To join a group, click the Join Group Hub button.
Create Discussion
Click the Start a topic button.
Enter Discussion Subject
Enter the name of your discussion in the Subject field [1]. A list of related posts may display. To view a related post, click the name of the question [3].
Add Discussion Details
Enter the text for your discussion topic in the Body field [1]. Use the Rich Content Editor icons to format your text [2].
To attach a file to your discussion, drag and drop a file or click the Browse link [3].
To receive email notifications for replies, click the Email me when someone replies checkbox [4].
If labels have been created for the group in which you're posting, you can apply one or multiple labels by click the label's link in the Choose a Label section [5].
You can also add tags in the Message Tags field [6].
To post your question, click the Post button [7].
