I have the free Canvas Teacher Account and I do not have the capability to change my students' passwords, or do I? If I have the capability, I cannot find the link in PEOPLE. When my students are forgetting their passwords, they are hitting the "Forgot Password" link and entering their email, but it is not sending a reset link to their emails.
HELP!!
Hi @PaulineWylie,
As far as I'm aware, the only people that could ever have anything to do with passwords in Canvas are administrators. Teachers would not have permission to change student passwords at all. Because of the nature of the Free product, there aren't really a lot of active administrators doing things. I'm going to move your post over to the free for teacher area to see if anyone has suggestions how to handle this if the students aren't receiving password reset emails.

Hi, if they click the password reset link twice (double-click) it should work. That's a little hack for FFT reset links. If that doesn't work, I can intervene for you. I can send you a private message within the Community for their anonymity.
Tried this and it did not allow me to double click. Once, I clicked, it sent me to the email password link, and same problem. Do we think the Canvas IT department will ever allow FFT teachers to reset our own student passwords? This would save us so much time and less stress for the students!
Hi @PaulineWylie just responded via private message. Unfortunately, password reset is not a teacher permission we'll enable in FFT, but I'm happy to help you get this situated.
I have found that if you resend the invitation to the class to the individual student it will let them in and then they can reset their password. May not be the easiest way, but has worked for me.
