If I assign a test in Canvas, do the students have the ability to open other websites or is there a setting I can use to lockdown the browser?

Hi @CynthiaKirkland ...

In general, Canvas does not have any built-in tools to lock down a browser.  However, there is a third-party paid product that integrates with Canvas called the Respondus LockDown Browser, and you can find out more information about it at: LockDown Browser - Respondus.  Your school's Canvas administrator would need to have conversations with Respondus about purchasing this product.  Even if you had this integration, this wouldn't prevent students from using things like their mobile phone or tablet device to look up answers.  For example, if your students were taking an online course from home, you might not know they had used another device to look up answers even if you had LockDown Browser integrated in your Canvas course.  So, these are some things to think about as you consider your options.

I hope this helps a bit.
