download submissions button missing from speedgrader

Hello, I would like to download all student submissions from my class for a given assignment into an excel csv file. 

The guidance on this website is to click on the assignment and then on the upper right should be "download submissions" in the "related items" section, however, the "download submissions" button is missing.

I don't believe there are any unusual submissions, the assignment just consists of two brief text response questions.

Hi @KarlHill,

You'll only have a download option if the assignment submission type was a file upload.  If you only had students do an online text entry question, there will not be a download option for that as it's done in a web/html format.

Thanks!  That's interesting because I have taught this course in the past, and used that exact same question, and I find in my folder from last year (on my C: drive) an excel sheet that seems to have been downloaded, containing last year's answers.

It must have been downloaded because it has their names, student IDs, etc., etc.  I never would have typed all that in.

So it seems that last year, using the same quiz (I imported into this year's course), I did somehow download all student answers to a csv.   A puzzle!  -K

Not correct. I have a class with text questions and I can download them but a teacher in another class doesn't have that access. Does anyone know why?
