Translation during LockDown Browser

Hello,

Is there any way to translate text into another language in the LockDown browser? I have a L1 Language speaker in my class who is struggling to complete quizzes within the allotted time due to having to use a Spanish-English dictionary for translation.

Hi @AylaWilk,

I do not know of any way to do this but I can provide a general process of accommodating the student but it would involve not requiring Respondus LockDown Browser for them.

1. duplicate the quiz (consult with your Canvas team for assistance with this or with Canvas Support)
2. rename the duplicate something else so that you know its purpose and assign it to just that student (this will be helpful for the future because you will probably want to delete it)
3. excuse the student from the original copy of the quiz so that it does not count against them
4. do not configure LockDown Browser for it
5. if your institution has one, you could consult with a Testing Center or Educational/Disability Support Services area (for academic accommodations) to find out if they are able to proctor the student (providing them with a list of items that are allowed
6. a Testing Center or Educational/Disability Support Services area might have software installed on their computers that assist with translating webpages (whether an entire page or selected texted)
