Hello,
I am a took an ACUE course on Canvas on teaching online @CindyStephens .
"You can not release student grades until they have at least opened the feedback. In most LMSs you can set this up as a conditional assignment". There is no other mention of how to do this since this course is not specifically designed for Canvas courses.
I was wondering if anyone know if there is some assignment type that allows me to do this in Canvas?
Thanks

This is quite similar to another recent topic, but unfortunately, the answer is no.
One way you could manage this is to set up Module rules that don't allow students to move forward until they've received a score on an assignment. When you're grading, leave comments as normal but do not put a score into the assignment. They'll get a notification that a comment has been made, but they shouldn't be able to move through the module until you go back and add a score following their replies, etc.
If you've never done that, here's the guide on adding module requirements.
