Rubric not populating grade. YES, the “use this rubric for grading” is checked

As title says. I LOVE rubrics, they make grading really easy, and I’ve used then for years. In one course the original rubrics were not set up to populate the grade. I’ve fixed that (when I updated the rubric) and it doesn’t matter. The rubric score is not populated in the grade and I have to manually either type it in (grading in speedgrader) or use the slider (Canvas Teacher app - which does not allow for adding extra credit points as I’ve added them in the rubric score sheet).

Supremely frustrating. Things I’ve done to troubleshoot:

1. Confirmed the “use this rubric for grading” is actually checked and that it STAYS checked after saving/closing (it’s still checked when I go back in to edit)
2. Deleted the rubric and recreated it from scratch. Same issue.
3. Updated the Teacher App and refreshed the browser in speedgrader..
4. Tried different browsers with speedgrader. Nada.
5. Glared at my screen balefully.
6. Muttered imprecations.
7. Questions the parentage of all involved (laptop, ipad, phone, etc.)

I’m out of ideas.

I noticed this as well. It seems to populate the grade the first time I create the rubric but loses that ability if I reuse it.
