Remove "Student Names" and "Assignment Names" drop down filters / Re-provide "Sections" without hoops

Once again, updates are making my gradebook experience much less user friendly. I don't want the drop down filters for "Student Names" nor "Assignment Names" as they simply are not features I would ever prefer to use and consume valuable screen space. If there was a way to remove them through a view settings feature, it would be much appreciated, although I fully do not expect this to occur since it hasn't changed since the last time I expressed my displeasure with the setting.
The new issue that has brought me back to create this post is that the one view setting I do find useful, view by section, has become far less efficient. It is now immersed within a feature titled Apply Filters that bogarts even more space in a row by itself below the previously 2 I mentioned and requires 3 clicks in addition to mouse relocation in order to even select a section.
I feel like the same folks working at Roku may crossover here as they also keep making my navigational experience less efficient.

@jwagoner ...
There is a separate area here in the Canvas Community website to suggest Ideas to enhance Canvas. You'll want to following the Guides listed under "Ideas and Themes" located at: Community - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).
Then, you can go here to start creating your Idea: Canvas Ideas - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).
Submitting your Idea this way will allow people to evaluate it to see if it is something that they would like to see implemented as well. And, you may find that someone has already submitted a similar Idea...in which case, you wouldn't need to create an Idea ... just follow the existing Idea.
I know this might not be the exact response you were looking for, but I hope that it helps to answer your question in some way.
