Faculty - I create one pinned Discussion where I ask all students to post their problems and solutions, but one student created three new Discussions with one question each. I would like to merge them into the main Discussion I created because then all question/solutions are on one page and it's easier to navigate. I appreciate this community very much. You folks have helped me enormously over the past few years!

It sounds to me like the student actually created three separate replies to your pinned discussion (not three separate discussions).
As an instructor, you can easily edit a student's reply to a discussion. Just copy and the paste the content from the second and third reply into the first reply. Then you can delete the second and third replies. This is easily done.

Also make sure to change your course settings so that students cannot create new discussions. There is a document in the Canvas Guides with information:
How do I allow students to create a course discuss... - Instructure Community
