I'm a teacher with a passion for safety education, and I'm planning to launch a new course on my website focused on fire safety. The course will cover important topics like safe use of fireplaces, stoves, and other common household items that pose fire hazards.

As I begin to develop this course, I'm looking for advice on how to structure the content effectively to engage my audience, which includes both beginners and those with some experience in fire safety.

What are some key topics and modules I should include to ensure the course is comprehensive? Are there any best practices for teaching fire safety online that I should be aware of?

Additionally, I'd appreciate recommendations on any tools, resources, or multimedia content that could enhance the learning experience for my students on my site. I'm aiming to make this course both educational and practical, so any tips on how to achieve that balance would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! While I don't have any specific recommendations centered on fire safety, I recommend learning about the following as you begin to plan and develop your course:

  • Backward Design
  • Course Mapping
  • Consistent modular structure and naming conventions
  • A Welcoming Home Page
  • Creating Accessible Content

While there are a lot of facets to building quality courses, the Canvas Course Evaluation Checklist is a helpful tool that can guide you in this work.

Good Luck!
