Students are to vote on the top 3 projects that they liked. I tried to set this up as a quiz so that they could rank all of the projects, but this wasn't working well. So then I thought I would set it up as a discussion board. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine who "liked" a post so if I wanted to give points to students for doing the assignment, I can't.
Could we add a feature so that 'Likes' can be recognized as replies on discussion boards OR can you help me find a way to create a quiz that ranks items?

Hello @baldwinsh
Thank you for contacting Canvas Support. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with getting a ranked quiz/discussion for your students. The likes in the Canvas discussions are (for now) mostly just there without any real context. We don't display the names but it is a great idea. Feel free to check out our Ideas Conversation forum as we implement great ideas such as this that we find within the community.

Additionally, you have options for sure. You can create a page and allow students to "edit" the page and fill out a table or cast their votes. You can set that option at the bottom of the page so that students can contribute directly. You could also just have a link in a discussion/page to a Google Doc or Spreadsheet where students can place their votes. Lastly, you should be able to have a quiz and see percentages of what students voted for what. Your best bet is to make it simple and multiple choice. You can have them all set to be correct answers if you want and you can use analytics to get a breakdown of who "answered" the questions accordingly. It changes depending on new or classic quizzes but here are the guides:
