I finally discovered how to filter out UNPUBLISHED assignments, but it is in the gradebook settings, not in the filters as described here:
However, this really should be a filter so it is quick and easy to turn on/off the unpublished assignments. Every second counts when you're already overburdened with too much to do!

Hi again, @MisterPerkins ...
I responded to you in another thread. For suggestions to Canvas, this should be posted in the "Ideas and Themes" area here in the Community. I'll post my response in this topic as well:
If you feel that there should be changes to any parts of the Gradebook, you can always submit those ideas to the "Ideas and Themes" area here in the Community for evaluation. I suggest that you look over the section on "Ideas and Themes" on this page:
Instructure Community Guide - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
Then, head on over to:
Canvas Ideas and Themes - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
...and click on the blue "View and Submit Ideas" button. Then, on the next page, click on the blue "Submit an Idea" button.
You may find that an existing idea has already been submitted...in which case you wouldn't need to submit your idea...so as to avoid duplication.
I hope this will be of some help to you.

The closest I can get to what you want is to go into the gradebook, then clikc on "Apply Filters." Click on "Submissions" and then on "Has No Submissions." Assuming you do not unpublish assignments after students turn them in, this should eliminate all unpublished assignments and maybe a few that are coming soon.
I'm sorry this is the best I can do.
