When you go to Settings- External Apps within a course, there are no apps listed, nor does the search work. Just wondering if there were any issues with this right now
We are trying to use the Redirect tool which typically has been listed on External Apps list by default.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Here is the reply I just got to the ticket I submitted to Canvas Support:
"We made a change recently where if you have an invalid access token, no apps would show rather than all apps. So you probably have an invalid token. You will want to either remove your token from that "Manage App List" button, or set a new one https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Admin-Guide/How-do-I-manage-an-Edu-App-Center-allow-list-in-Canva...
Because I didn't have any previous information to work off of from whoever at my institution initially set up our external apps, it looks like I now have to re-set up all the apps in the EduAppCenter. I generated a new token, and will now have to set up "Organizations" and the apps. Here are some more articles I was prompted to use:
Post-script: I followed the steps as outlined in these admin guide articles and it worked. We regained our access to all the apps, both on our sub-account level and the individual course level.
Hi @tellison,
The Apps tab is working fin in our instance when I checked just now. The things available in that tab can be controlled by your local Canvas team, so I wonder if a decision was made to remove the redirect tool locally for some reason. You could reach out to your school's Canvas team (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas) to check on that.

I am a Canvas Administrator at my school and I am also seeing this issue from my role in our Canvas instance (from both of our Canvas domains, actually), as are faculty members at my school. Our office did not make any changes that should have impacted this, so given that others are also experiencing the issue, I'd say this is an Instructure/Canvas issue. Will submit ticket shortly.
I was able to update this.
Thank you. I looked at this again yesterday. We did not update any settings either.

Would the invalid token cause it to break institution-wide or just in individual courses? I'm experiencing the same issue right now. In one of my courses that have about 15 students, I can access the external apps. However, in one of my courses with slightly over 100, I'm unable too.
Would that be a cause? I'm also trying to use the ReDirect tool to add something. My admin didn't disable it, as we checked yesterday. I do not have admin-level permissions, only teacher. Thanks!
Hi @NoahBoswell,
This would generally be an issue at the account/subaccount level, as that's where the allow list tokens would be entered. It's entirely possible that the course that works is in one subaccount and the course that does not work is in a different subaccount though. That would be one of the first things that I, as a Canvas admin, would check on.

I think you might be right, as my school district has a sub-account for each of our schools, then one for the district that essentially manages all of them (to my understanding).
One of my courses are under the district one, and one of them are under the high school sub-account with manually created courses.
Manually created courses works, the one under the district's account doesn't.
I will mention something, thanks!
Noah
