Exporting announcements with a picture.

Exporting announcements with a picture. Will this ever be addressed by Instructure??? I teach 4 classes and have to copy over 40 some announcements to each class.  The college wants the picture included.

Can you clarify how you are exporting announcements?

I just made an announcement with an image, and copied it to another course (image below), and the announcement was copied, with the image included.

There are three ways to export and import/copy an announcement:

1. How do I export a Canvas course? - Instructure Community - 785  followed by  How do I import a Canvas course export package? - Instructure Community - 795  and using the How do I select specific content as part of a cour... - Instructure Community - 1091  option while importing to only import an announcement or multiple announcements (I would not recommend this option)
2. How do I copy content from another Canvas course u... - Instructure Community - 1012  only with the How do I select specific content as part of a cour... - Instructure Community - 1091  option while importing to only import an announcement or multiple announcements (this is much easier than option #1)
3. How do I copy an announcement to another course? - Instructure Community - 888  (what @Gabriel33 showed) to copy announcement (while viewing it) over to another course (this is the easiest way and what I would recommend)

I am not sure what you mean by: "Exporting announcements with a picture. Will this ever be addressed by Instructure??? The college wants the picture included."

Can you please provide us with more information?

P.S. You might want to consider reaching out to your college's Canvas team because it seems like there might be specific expectations that we in the Canvas Community know about.

@dbrace , all, when I use option #2 the announcement copies fine however it is not associated with my account in the new course. As such the Canvas profile image and my name doesn't show.

I'll wager a shiny nickel this is the concern. Going back in time, I recall when this was changed and the reasoning was so that instructional designer accounts weren't tied to announcements.

In terms of potential time saver ideas/ suggestions, this is one I consider to have high potential reward for a rather large number of people.

Thanks for thinking and looking into it deeper, @Jeff_F. I remember that reasoning as well and the initial "U" appears in the area where the profile picture would appear when in the "Announcements" area (or "Home" area if the "Show recent announcements on Course home page" has been selected.

I agree that this is something that should be something that could be worked on but I also understand why it is the way that it is. Some sort of balance should be possible though.

I would like to export my announcements from an old class to a new class and include my Profile picture and name.  I only export announcements which are about 25 or more a class, teaching 4 classes and I have to copy and paste as they want our Profile picture to show in the Announcements.

Hi @ShebaSchlaikjer,

Canvas does not support the ability to export or copy or import an announcement and have the author's profile picture in the designated locations

If you want to be able to do that (without submitting an idea), you would need to include your picture in the body of the announcement itself.
