Excused student still needing to do module requirements

My setup for each module is:

1) Note check (photo upload)

2) Discussion post

3) Quiz

I have enabled the setting that students must work in sequential order. However, if I excuse a student from the note check in the gradebook, it does not unlock the discussion assignment, they are forced to submit something for the note check assignment for Canvas to unlock the next requirement.

Hi @mzkm,

I can't find any documentation for this specific scenario.  Logically, I'd agree that excusing the assignment for a student should probably allow them to move on in the module, but that might be an edge case that was not considered between module requirements and excused grades.  I'd honestly suggest reporting this to Canvas Support if your school/institution allows you access to that.  The community here is great to help answer questions, but something like this really needs to get in the view of support and engineers to they can evaluate the situation and see if it's something they can fix in the future.
