Disabling the Auto-grade on Surveys

Is there a way to have a survey not be auto-graded until an instructor reviews and releases the grade? I am thinking, for example, of a student who might not complete a survey correctly but gets "complete" points for submitting content–that an instructor must then go back and edit.

Graded surveys award points just for students selecting the Submit button, so the only way to hide the score is to mute the assignment on the Grades page. I did some testing of this and found my best results were when I changed the overall setting to post grades manually. This hid the score from students even when they submitted the survey.
How do I use posting policies in a course?
I’m going to mark my response as a solution, but there can be more than one. I hope our colleagues here in the Community can share other options.
