Default Annotation Tool?

Is there a way to set the default annotation tool?

I'm grading a few hundred tests, and I'm using the Point Annotation tool exclusively. However, whenever I'm done with a student's test and go to a new student (or another file that the student has submitted), the Selection tool is highlighted. It is getting annoying having to click on the Point Annotation tool every time, and was wondering whether there was an alternative. (I've looked at the Settings menu, but that option's not there.)

Hi,  @checkma ‌, that functionality does not currently exist in DocViewer. If this is something you'd like to see added to Canvas, please suggest it as a new idea in the Ideas‌ forum after reading through How do I create a new feature idea in the Canvas Community?‌

And, if I understand the process, I have to wait at least a year until it becomes available. 8-(

I'm surprised that the first person who tried an Annotation Tool (other than Select) didn't think of this, a long time ago ...

Sadly, this basic - and requested - feature still doesn't exist.
