If I am in either the Gradebook or Inbox and I select a few students to receive a message, is it possible to put their first name in the message?

Hello @tomb
Right now it doesn't look like we have that ability of using variables to enter in student names inside an Inbox message through the Canvas Inbox, or sending through the Canvas Gradebook. We can, however, send an individual message to all users when sending messages en masse.
This sounds like it would be a great ability to be able to input variables into the text box of a message, and have that input with information from the Course Roster, for example. I would suggest to submit your idea to our Ideas Page

I would also like to see the above mentioned option. I used to be able to do this on Blackboard. It is pretty helpful and makes the students feel like they are not in a massive class and my messages to the is personalized.
