Can I give assignments equal weight within a group if they have different points values?

I think similar questions have been asked in the past, but I can't find out if anything has changed in recent years. I have 4 exams in the Exams group. They all have a different number of questions, but I want them to all be weighted equally. How do I do this? Thanks!

@TravisBennett1 Unfortunately no, the point values determine the "sub" weights.  Currently weighted categories cannot have sub-weights, these are determined by the point values of the assignments/quizzes within the category.

I think the Canvas devs feel this "feature" is too important to lose, and not important enough to "fix".  The main problem is those of us new to Canvas who are coming from every other LMS in the universe get blindsided by this feature and are forced to duck tape our courses in mid flight.
