Automatically importing ALL students or teachers

Hello!

Here is the scenario: 

We want to be able to import all students or teachers to a subject and also give them the fitting roles. You can see what role they have by looking at the username structure. Our teacher has a logon name which consists of 6 letters only, like this: "abcdef", and our students have a username that consists for 6 letters followed by two numbers, like this: "abcdef12", So is there any way to import for example everyone with a logon name that consists of only 6 letters, and choose what role they get?

Full disclosure... I don't know the specifics about how to answer your question...as I was a former Canvas administrator but did not work directly with SIS import files (as my department worked with our IT department to make this happen).  However, I do know that there are Guides here in the Community to help with SIS imports so that you can upload many users at one time to course shells in Canvas.  I'm not sure if you've seen these administrator Guides, but I wanted to share this link with you to the "SIS Imports" section:

Again, not sure if this will be of help to you or not.  Hopefully someone else might be able to chime in and give you more specifics.  Good luck!
