I am a university dean and the educational technology team reports to me. I asked them for information on automatically generating weekly reports of student and instructor activity in Canvas courses (number of postings, number of responses, etc.), something I would consider basic, based on my 25 years experience in online learning.
One of my staff reached out to Canvas support and was told that course analytics is not an automated process. To put it mildly, I was stunned. Is this correct? Almost every corporate LMS does this.
Thanks.

Canvas doesn't have the ability to send analytical reports automatically.
However, you can set up this process by using workflow automation tools (E.g. n8n) to download data from Canvas Data, generate reports, and email them to you.
The data is available through Canvas Data, you will need to create your own query (SQL).
I'm writing an instruction for this process and I'll share it here in the near future.
If you're interested, feel free to send me a PM.
