Students are submitting an assignment that's not supposed to be there and that I can't find. I want to delete the assignment but I can't find it anywhere! It's not on the Assignments page, I don't see it anywhere when I use Student View or when I don't. Help?
can you hide it from the gradebook column?
It's not in the gradebook. I don't know where students are finding it!
Hello,
Could it be on the assignments page? If you know the name of the assignment, you may be able to find it there.
I've looked on the Assignments page; it's not there.
Hi @JuliaL ,
Where are you seeing the submissions? If they are showing up in your Gradebook, you should be able to click on the name of the assignment to take you to it. Then look at the breadcrumb trail at the top of the page to see if it gives you any insight as to where the assignment "lives."
Thanks for the response. The submissions are showing up on the To Do list. When I click on the assignment, the breadcrumb trail says it's on the Assignments page, but when I go to the Assignments page, it's not there. I'm so confused by this!
Hi @JuliaL ,
That sounds really frustrating. When you click on the assignment in the To-Do list, are you able to enter editing mode? Can you just unpublish it so that students can't access it anymore at least?
When you click from the To-Do list, can you get to the Speedgrader? Can you see actual submissions? What are students actually doing/submitting?
Have you looked on your Quizzes and Discussions pages to see if the assignment shows up there?
Have you looked at Pages to make sure you don't have one with the "Add to Student to-do" box checked?
Have you tried logging out of Canvas entirely and logging back in to try to "reset" your Assignments page?
Have you tried clearing your cache and making sure your browser is up to date (also to try to "reset" your Assignments page)?
When I click on the assignment in the To-Do list, it goes to the Speed Grader. When I click the on the assignment from the top of the Speed Grader page, it takes me to the assignment and I can enter editing mode, but it won't let me unpublish. I also found the assignment on the Calendar, and I'm not able to delete it from there.
I've checked and it's not under Quizzes, Discussions, or Pages. Logging out of Canvas and back in again doesn't change anything. My browser is up to date. I even tried logging in using a different browser. I'm stymied! I think I'll just email the students and tell them not to do the assignment.
Did you copy this course from a previous one?
is it an old assignment ghost?
Can you post a screenshot?
