Archived Grades Missing

I've already submitted a support ticket for this and it has been attached to EVAL-2857.  I just wanted to see if anybody else was experiencing this and/or had specific information about a timeline on this. Our student support team is getting hammered with this question and this after putting an announcement in Canvas about this issue. 

For our online courses which are on rolling enrollment, we conclude students manually when they have finished the course. The completed grades are there before we conclude the student's enrollment, but once we conclude the enrollment, the grade report appears as N/A.

My experience as a Teacher is that once a student has been removed from a course, the student disappears from the course. The grades and student work also disappear. If the student is reinstated to the same course, I believe that the student's work and grades reappear.

I think having a "rolling" course model is going to be problematic. Perhaps you could create a new course shell every couple of weeks or every month, depending on how many students enroll in this course and how frequently new students join it.

We don't remove them from courses; we conclude them. There's a difference between deleting enrollment and concluding enrollment.  If you delete them, then you are correct that all work and grades disappear. However, concluding the enrollment allows the student to go back and see past courses and past grades. The issue is that the grades are no longer appearing for concluded students whereas they formerly were.

Rolling enrollment has worked for our online program for 15+ years now and Canvas features many functionalities that allow us to make rolling enrollment work.   Creating 40+ new course shells every few weeks or even monthly would bloat our account and be inefficient.

Thanks for providing more explanation about your courses. I had not realized that there was an option to "conclude" a student's enrollment in a rolling course. Perhaps, someone else who has worked as a Canvas Administrator can provide better support. Also, try turning a ticket into Instructure. Good luck!
