I am creating a rubric for a faculty member, but as you can see on the attached image the lines for each point value don't line up. Is there anyway to move the lines so they all match up (i.e. 15pt value criteria box matches throughout the entire rubric?

Hello ac8ga and welcome to the Canvas Community! There is currently no way to make the columns in rubrics align regardless of the amount typed into the rubric itself. However, there is an idea currently open for vote to which you might consider lending your support. The response by @James in this idea also has some helpful information.

I may have some good news for you. This past weekend, Instructure released a bunch of new updates to Canvas. One of them centers around the first phase of redesigning rubrics. Check out this section of the Canvas Release Notes: Canvas Release Notes (2024-07-20) - Instructure Community - 606797 (canvaslms.com).
Also, if the rubrics redesign option is enabled, when I built a rubric that had different text in all the cells, the columns did line up...even if the amount of text was different. I did not test this in the student view, but I did take a screenshot from the instructor view which you might find interesting:
You'll also notice there is a drop-down list at the top left corner which currently says "Traditional". Other viewing options in this list include "Horizontal" and "Vertical"...which are detailed in the link I provided.
You might want to talk with your school's Canvas administrator about enabling this Feature Option in your Canvas environment.
I hope this will help in some way.

The link on this doesn't seem to work. What happened to the request for this feature?
I concur with theresa_jarvis. The link does not work at the moment, and I hope this future is integrated.
I happened to align my rubric's view in the way I wanted in the past. I was trying to remember the process. So, at least, there was a workaround solution.
As seen below the image, my rubric criteria and rating descriptions are aligned.
(Note that this is the view in the grade book)

After a bit of investigation, it appears to me that the aligned view is available only in the grade book view, and the editable rubric on the rubric management page is not aligned. So, likes the future is not integrated.
At the end of the day, the grade book view is more important for my use and students' view. Having this aligned at least there is something helpful. It would be more meaningful if it has the same view on the design page as well for editing and having a correct preview.
Good luck with your rubrics!
Hello,
I am currently having the same issue and feel it does not look professional for the rubric to not align in the student view. While it may align in the gradebook, why can't someone make it do the same in the student view?
Thanks,

I'll just add that in testing this more today, rubrics still show with uneven rows if you add rubrics to the bottom of assignment instructions...even if the new Rubrics Redesign is turned on.
Hi Chris, I would appreciate it if you could show us how to enable the rubrics redesign option. Thank you.
Hello @elena_popa ...
Enabling the "Rubric Enhancements" Feature Option is not something that can be done at the course level. Meaning, instructors cannot enable this on their own. Rather, your school's Canvas administrator would enable this at the Canvas account level. It is currently a feature that is "on" for everyone or "off" for everyone. There isn't an option to enable it in courses and give instructors the option to turn it "off" per course if they don't want it just yet. Similarly, there isn't an option to allow instructors to turn it "on" per course.
I recommend that you reach out to your school's Canvas administrator to see if they would be willing to turn it "on" for everyone. But, you may want to read through this first:
Rubric Enhancements - Phase 1 Impressions - Instructure Community - 610105 (canvaslms.com)
Here is the Guide for Canvas administrators on how they can enable Feature Options like the "Rubric Enhancements":
How do I manage feature options for an account? - Instructure Community - 204 (canvaslms.com)
I hope this will help a bit!
