In this Catalog release (March 14), enabling the Enable Self Registration option in the Catalog admin settings allows individuals without a Canvas account to create one directly through Catalog and enroll in Catalog listings.
Catalog release notes indicate features and updates that are currently available in the Catalog beta environment. These updates will be available in production environments on the date indicated by the release notes.

Enable Self Registration
Enabling the Enable Self Registration option in the Catalog admin settings allows individuals without a Canvas account to create one directly through Catalog and enroll in Catalog listings. Once a user has an account, they can access Catalog or Canvas using Canvas local authentication and enroll in future Catalog listings on their own.
If the option is toggled off, an admin must create an account for users before they can enroll in a Catalog listing.
The Enable Self Registration toggle is turned on by default.
