I am suspecting that you are asking about using the built-in media recorder in Canvas, and not some third-party solution.

When you are recording you are using your microphone to capture sounds and your webcam to capture video. It has nothing to do with your keyboard - yes, you can continue typing; but keep in mind that everybody watching the video of your recording will know you are typing, and not really focused on talking to them. This can be damaging.

Thanks again for the reply- I record when I am not in front of students so that is not an issue.  Doyou know how to disable the shortcut keys that pause or start drawing feature or stop the Canvas studio recording all together?  I would like to work as I am recording but the a,d keys are activating shortcuts that stop the recording.

Sometimes we use Studio to make videos demonstrating things where it's helpful for a viewer to see us write. A way to disable hotkeys while recording would be wonderful.

I am having this issue too! When I try to type while using Canvas Studio Screen Capture Recording, the recording will glitch out stop and restart recording randomly... turns out it happens when I type. I thought it was the spacebar... now I wonder if it is the "a" and "d" keys? I'm frustrated by this because there are NO shortcuts that allow any type of recording change without using the OPTION key. I don't have option keys sticking-- there's just something wrong with Canvas Studio.
