[ARCHIVED] E-mailing students as a TA without including instructor

Can any admins answer the question that was raised by  @blgartland  in the following post Email students in one section only, without sending to instructors as well. I have assisted as much as I can, and the issue sounds like a setting or feature to me rather than a bug.

We are giving the Canvas Admins area a little bit of love (especially questions that are really, really old) and just want to check in with you.  This will also bring this question new attention.

Yes, this can be done, and I just tested this with one of our cross-listed courses.

• Navigate to inbox,
• Select Compose New Message,
• Select the appropriate course,
• Click the "To" icon, and choose Course Sections,
• Select the appropriate section where you will be given the opportunity to target all in the course, Teachers in the course, or just students in the course.

 @Robbie_Grant ‌ I had posed this question here in hopes of getting a response to this question (Email students in one section only, without sending to instructors as well ) from another user. After extensive testing of Canvas Inbox features, I can only assume that the question had been answered as the individual never replied again. It appeared to be a settings issue. I had forgotten I had created this question, but the original question was assumed answered.

 @kmeeusen ‌ Thanks for the suggestion. This is what I also did during my testing of the Inbox in a course where I had someone posing as a TA and I as the instructor, and it worked for me. The issue was that the individual who originally posed the question was apparently following these steps, but messages were still going to the course instructor even when not included in the list.
