It seems that suspending a user should disable notifications to that user and all Canvas activity.  Was there an idea created for this?

Agree, I wish Canvas would allow for a user status of "inactive."  Only having "active" and "deleted" is limiting for the admin.

Same here - I need it to be off by default but still available as an option for the course editors to use.  Did you find a way to do this?
