All Item Banks in Account Available for Instructors

Hello,

I would love some help. It is hard to keep up with all the changes, although I try. I have had faculty reach out to me recently, I am a Canvas admin, asking for me to delete Item Banks for them. 

When I looked into it a little more, it seems like all faculty can see all Item Banks that are being used in our account regardless if it is theirs or not and regardless if it was shared with them or not. 

Is this new? They are complaining that the list is too long and cluttered for them to find their OWN item banks and questions and if there is anyway I can have it display only theirs. 

I did do some searching and I also contacted support, but haven't gotten an answer yet. Thank you for any help if possible!

I don't have an answer for you, but would you post here what support responds with? This is what I'm afraid is going to happen to our Admin once we move to New Quizzes (we haven't yet), but I wasn't thinking it would happen to faculty. 

Does it help when they change the dropdown from All Banks to something else?

There is information about this in the June 2021 Release notes. (See: Item Bank management.

From those notes:

Instructors can view Item Banks from any quiz, or from the link in the Course Navigation Menu. Item banks display in the following circumstances:

• Item banks created by the instructor
• Item banks shared directly with the instructor
• Item banks shared with the instructor indirectly via a course where the user is an enrolled as an instructor 

did the staff member you were working with have admin permissions in a subaccount? This enables Item Bank visibility outside their courses. Under permissions, you can turn this off. We have this off for all of our admin roles with the exception of the "Account Admin" role.

Yes, I did get an answer. It was a teacher permission- Item Banks- Manage. This was enabled. Interestingly, when I looked at the What It Does description and Additional Considerations, it does not mention anything about the ability to see ALL Item Banks in the Account if this is enabled. I find it confusing. But once I disabled this, the teachers can only see the item banks they own or are shared with them.
