[OPEN] Checkpoints Discussion submissions incorrectly marked as Late

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.
Description
-
When Discussion checkpoints is enabled, submissions can be marked as
late
if an initial due date was set up when creating the discussion, prior to enabling Checkpoints and assigning Reply to Topic Due Date and Required Replies Due Date dates. -
In this case, the submission will follow the initial due date and if a reply is to be submitted after this date, it will be marked as
late
.
Expected Behavior
-
Submissions should follow the Reply to Topic Due Date and Required Replies Due Date dates instead, when assigning labels to students' submissions.
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce
Prerequisites: a published course in an account with Discussions Checkpoints
FF enabled, with at least one student enrolled:
-
Create a graded discussion with a due date then save.
-
Go back to the edit page and enable the
Assign graded checkpoints
option. -
Assign Reply to Topic Due Date and Required Replies Due Date in the future.
-
As the student, reply to to this discussion topic and add an additional reply after the initial due date has passed and before the checkpoint due date has passed.
-
Notice that this student’s submission will be marked as
late
although Reply to Topic Due Date and Required Replies Due Date dates still haven’t passed and still in the future.
