Discussions created by students cannot be edited and saved at a later stage

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 9/11/24

Description

When a course is set to allow students to create discussions, if a student creates a discussion within the course, then at a later stage would like to edit it, it will not save the changes.

Expected Behavior

Students should be able to edit discussion they create.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: A course with a student enrolment. Discussion settings that allows students to create discussions. “Create discussion” permission enabled for students.

  1. Go to discussions page as student and click add discussion.

  2. Create and save the discussion.

  3. Edit the discussion.

  4. Try to save the discussion.

  5. Notice the loading wheel to spin briefly before disappearing

    1. If it saves on the first try, navigate away for a few minutes and then try again.
